Purpose of the job (Objectives & fundamental reasons for existence of the position)

  • The primary objective of this position is to ensure compliance with local & global SH&E standards and legal requirements, enhance workplace safety, and support sustainability initiatives.
  • Key responsibilities include updating documentation, preparing for certifications, conducting inspections, monitoring emissions and waste management, and providing training.
  • This role involves regular reporting to HOD’s, assisting in audits, and promoting environmental and safety practices within the organization.

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities (Description of the tasks)

Documentation and Compliance

  • Update internal documentation (SH&E manual, emergency preparedness plan, Risk Assessment, HIRA Environmental documents) as per Global SH&E standards.
  • Update applicable legal compliance.
  • Assist in preparing Sustainability reporting (GRI).
  • Assist and prepare ISO 14001:2015 & 45001:2015 documentation for certification process.

Equipment and Inspections

  • Prepare inspection checklists for equipment (Hydra Cranes, Hydraulic Cranes, Conveyors, EOT cranes, OHT cranes, Hoist).

Reporting and Monitoring

  • Ensure and report monthly and quarterly workplace monitoring to APPCB as per CFO.
  • Update, record, and report CFO conditions to APPCB on a half-yearly basis.
  • Continuously monitor and ensure standard limits of CFO regarding process emissions (CEMS: SO2 & SPM, CAAQMS: PM10, PM2.5, and SO2).
  • Record and document waste collection and disposal processes as per relevant waste management rules (E-waste management rule 2016, Hazardous waste management and handling rules 1989, Waste Management Rules 2022, Bio-medical waste management rules 2016).
  • Timely reporting of all legal and statutory compliance to government authorities.
  • Update submitted legal compliance in SAP Z-Compliance tracker.

Training and Safety

  • Conduct training programs for all employees and contractor workmen.
  • Monitor day-to-day activities and conduct toolbox talks.
  • Conduct and report safety walkthroughs.
  • Conduct and report quarterly safety committee meetings and implement observations.
  • Ensure OHC and Ambulance Van compliance as per the 1948 Factories Act.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist in greenbelt development and sprinkling.
  • Assist HOD in CFO renewals process and Fire NOC renewals.
  • Assist HOD in internal and external safety, environmental, and sustainability audits.
  • Conduct and participate in environmental and safety celebrations.

 

 

Job requirements (Educational qualification, work experience, required technical &functional skills)

Educational Qualification

  • B. Tech (Environment/Instrumentation/Chemical) with PG in Environment Sciences
  • PG Diploma in Fire & Industrial Safety, Health, Environment.

Experience

  • 12 to 16 years of experience
  • English verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 will be an added advantage.

Knowledge and Skill

  • Strong knowledge of local & global SH&E standards and legal compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with SAP and MS Office Tools
  • Proficiency in preparing sustainability reports (GRI) and managing waste as per relevant regulations.
  • Ability to prepare and update inspection checklists for various equipment.
  • Competence in monitoring and reporting workplace safety and environmental metrics.
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with different departments and external authorities.
