Job Overview : The safety Officer is responsible for position oversees risk assessment processes, safety inspections, work permit systems, LOTO pand incident investigations while driving a proactive safety culture across all departments. The role ensures effective implementation of statutory requirements, promotes employee engagement in safety initiatives, and strengthens overall EHS performance through continuous monitoring, training, and improvement programs. The position acts as a key facilitator between management, employees, contractors, and statutory bodies to maintain high safety standards and ensure operational excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities Areas     :

  • Conduct HIRA, JHA/JSA, PJSA, activity‑based risk assessments, and HAZOP studies for routine and non‑routine operations in coordination with cross‑functional teams.
  • Ensure effective implementation and monitoring of the LOTO system across all operations.
  • Ensure PJSA at the job site prior to issuing work permits such as Hot Work, Work at Height, Confined Space, Lifting, Excavation, and Line Breaking.
  • Lead Pre‑Start‑up Safety Review (PSSR) audits for new or modified equipment, electrical systems, utilities, pipelines, and chemical storage facilities.
  • Conduct pre‑use and periodic inspections of scaffolding, movable equipment, tools, and lifting appliances as per applicable safety standards.
  • Perform routine plant safety inspections, identify unsafe acts and conditions, and ensure timely closure and effectiveness verification of corrective actions.
  • Facilitate incident, near‑miss, and dangerous occurrence reporting, and lead investigations to identify root causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Review and monitor the implementation and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) arising from incidents, audits, and inspections.
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver safety training programs, including induction, refresher, and job‑specific training for employees and contract personnel.
  • Promote safety awareness and employee participation through campaigns, toolbox talks, competitions, and engagement initiatives to strengthen safety culture.
  • Coordinate Safety Committee meetings, track action items, and ensure timely follow‑up and closure.
  • Prepare and implement annual safety plans, including audit schedules, inspection programs, and training calendars.
  • Maintain statutory records and documentation related to accidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences, and occupational health cases as per legal requirements.
  • Effective communication with cross‑functional departments to implement the safety management system.

 

Qualification                                : Graduate / Post Graduate and PG Diploma in industrial Safety from Any State Board of Technical education

 

Experience                                    : 4 to 10 years of relevant experience
