Purpose


The Warehouse Specialist is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient management of warehouse inventory and material movements supporting plant operations. This position oversees receiving, shipping, stocking, inventory control, and SAP inventory transactions while ensuring compliance with company procedures, safety requirements, and inventory accuracy standards..

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Inventory Management

  • Manage cycle count activities and support year-end physical inventories.
  • Perform routine warehouse inspections, inventory audits, and spot checks.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy between physical inventory and SAP records.
  • Monitor MRP reorder points and coordinate replenishment of consumables and stocked materials.
  • Conduct quarterly inventory verifications and assist with annual MRP reviews.


Warehouse Operations

  • Receive, inspect, stock, issue, transfer, and ship materials in accordance with company procedures.
  • Prepare shipments to ensure safe transport and unloading.
  • Load and unload trucks while verifying packing slips and documenting discrepancies, shortages, or damaged materials.
  • Organize and maintain warehouse locations to support efficient material retrieval and inventory control.


SAP & Documentation

  • Process purchase requisitions (PR), goods receipts (GR), goods issues (GI), and material transfers within SAP.
  • Maintain accurate inventory transaction records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with development and improvement of warehouse processes, procedures, and work instructions.


Safety & Compliance

  • Create, review, and participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and in accordance with company requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with all site safety policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete required training, certifications, and refresher courses.


Team Support

  • Assist in training employees on warehouse procedures and SAP processes.
  • Coordinate equipment inspection and maintenance records with the Maintenance Department.
  • Support warehouse housekeeping initiatives and maintain an organized work environment.

 

Job Requirements

 

A high school diploma or GED is required. A minimum of two to four years of relevant warehousing, inventory control, or material handling experience is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP software, and SAP Inventory Management (IM) is preferred. Experience with inventory control processes, cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and material transactions is highly desirable. The successful candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical abilities, and the ability to solve problems while working effectively both independently and as part of a team. The candidate must be dependable, self-motivated, and possess excellent time management, organizational, and multitasking skills. A demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and compliance with established safety procedures is required. The ability to safely operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, is required, with forklift certification preferred or the ability to obtain certification. The position may require occasional evening, weekend, holiday, or overtime work to support operational needs, shutdowns, inventories, or special projects. Possession of a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is preferred.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk or hear, reach lower than shoulder height, and use hands and/or fingers to handle or feel. The employee is periodically required to sit, reach above shoulder height, stoop, kneel, crouch or squat, and twist. The employee is regularly required to lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds, periodically required to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
