Duties & Responsibilities:


•    We are looking for a 2nd-class Shift Operating Engineer to support our 1st class Powerhouse Steam Plant equipment with all related tasks,                         maintenance and operation. The incumbent would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity Excellence Respect and Creativity.
•    Under the direction of the Chief Engineer, the 2nd-class Shift Operating Engineer will be responsible for safe operation & maintenance of Powerhouse       Plant equipment as per TSSA rules and regulations. Shift Engineer also responsible for safe and efficient operation of wastewater treatment facility             (MBR) in the back shifts (Nights, Stat holidays and Weekends)
•    Also responsible for Thermal oxidizers, flare stack, RO and other auxiliary equipment.
•    Provide vacation/ sick leave coverages for other shift engineers if required.
•    Able to repair/ replace plant steam traps, valves, fittings, small pumps & piping.
•    Provide First Aid and CPR for plant employees if required.
•    Monitor Fire Alarm System and act upon as per Rain Carbon procedure.  
•    Rounds which may include testing, recording of readings and adjusting within required operating parameters.
•    Additional duties as assigned by Chief Engineer. Responds to emergency and other service calls related to steam and condensate systems. 
•    Ensures that assigned area is maintained at a high standard of safety and cleanliness.
•    Ability to work 12 hours rotating shifts and comfortable working overtime when needed.
•    Self-motivated with ability to work with minimum supervision.
•    Higher level of Mechanical aptitude with regards troubleshooting skills is required.
•    Comfortable to work safely at higher elevation area or in confined spaces if needed.


Education:


•    Successful completion of secondary school according to provincial standards.
•    Must have a valid 2nd Class Operating Engineer Certificate issued by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA).
•    Strong mechanical aptitude. Millwright’s ticket is considered a major asset.
