Purpose of the job 

•    The Project Engineer will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing projects within the plant. This role requires a combination of technical expertise and project management skills to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.
•    The Project Engineer will have to ensure that all projects comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies. 


Duties & Responsibilities
 
•    Comply with the requirements of the Quality, Environmental and H&S Management Systems
•    Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures, including HAZOP, PSSR, MOC.     
•    Plan, manage projects, and prepare material, cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications for Capital investment projects within the facility
•    Manage project timelines, ensuring all tasks are completed on schedule.
•    Oversee project budgets, tracking costs to ensure adherence to allocated budgets.
•    Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, construction teams, contractors and consultants
•    Prepare technical documentation, including process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
•    Prepare contract documents and evaluate tenders for construction work packages
•    Monitor Contractors compliance with applicable legal acts and regulations and company rules and procedures.  Take appropriate and timely corrective action for all assigned corrective actions.
•    Supervise and inspect the construction, installation, modification and commissioning to verify that systems and processes meet desired specifications.
•    Identify and address issues during project execution, developing solutions to keep the project on track.
•    Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, technical specifications, and project deliverables. Present project updates to management and stakeholders.
•    Develop the annual budgets and report an adherence of actuals vs target costs.
•    Other duties within the Engineering Department assigned by Supervisor


Job requirements

 
Minimum:  

•    Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
•    Proven experience in project management within the chemical industry.
•    Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles and processes.
•    Excellent organizational and communication skills.
•    Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
•    Proficiency in project management software and tools.

 

Preferred:  

•    Master’s degree.
•    Professional Engineer (PE) license.
•    Certification in Project Management (PMP or similar).
